Hands-On Lab

Introduction to Single-Phase Electric Meter Installations

Monday – Wednesday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm | Thursday, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm

One of the beneficial features for students at GLEMS is the re-enforcement of classroom instruction in a hands-on lab environment. Throughout the week, the GLEMS hands-on lab instructors execute a series of exercises with students enrolled in most of the track curriculums. These labs include: Basics of Voltage and Current Measurement, Series and Parallel Circuits, Socket Safety Checks, and a Comprehensive Final Lab on Thursday morning, which covers most of the topics taught during the week’s instruction. Individuals currently working in the metering field, who have accumulated years of knowledge and experience, provide support and guidance. Students can request training from lab personnel to perform meter testing and get involved in discussions concerning metering applications or practices.
